INTERDUBS and press releases
INTERDUBS was initially designed to be used to communicate work in progress. Sending reels out as a sales tool was a natural functionality extension.
Related it happened that customers used INTERDUBS links in press releases.
Press Release Procedure
It has to be recognized that the same engine has to serve very different purposes at this point: Small volume of frequently changing secure postings on one hand, and public postings for a large audience on the other.
If you would like to use an INTERDUBS page in a press release please do the following:
- add a named link to the login you use and publish this link
- check the 'press release / $50' option when you create the link.
Price
$50 will be added to your next INTERDUBS bill. The checkbox here is an attempt to make it very easy on your part to communicate that you would like to use a link in a press release.
The $50 are for the extra bandwidth costs that can occur. They are based on 'normal' press releases in our industry. A public link can attract extremely large attention. It is worth noting that there might be additional costs. INTERDUBS will try to inform you as quickly as possible if this event should be possible. So that you ideally have the choice to disable the content.
Liabilities
If you put content on the public internet your are responsible for it. INTERDUBS tries to help, but can not assume any liabilities for your actions.
Configurations
A couple of other points are maybe worth considering for public internet postings:
- encode the clips with 'quick start' so that they start playing quickly
- disable comments in the options of the login
- only let people use the play in page option
- use larger icons
- add information to the page via the project html config
- add notes to the clips
