Contents

Setup

In order to use your Dropbox account to upload content into INTERUBS go to

 Utilities

and then select

 Dropbox

On this page you either see your Dropbox account status (see below) or this link:

Please click here to set up INTERDUBS access to a new folder /Apps/INTERDUBS_IO in your Dropbox

Clicking on this link will bring you to the Dropbox website. Should you be signed in to Dropbox then you will see a screen like the following:

When you allow access then a new folder called

/Apps/INTERDUBS_IO

will appear in your Dropbox. This is the only folder that the INTERDUBS Dropbox application will have access to.

Uploads

Any file that you place into this folder will get automatically uploaded into INTERDUBS. INTERDUBS makes a copy of the file. You no longer need it is no longer needed in the Dropbox folder.

The default behavior of ANY Dropbox folder is that you drag files into it, it removes the file from your hard drive, leaving the file in Dropbox as the only copy. It might be best if you option-drag files that you like to upload into INTERDUBS: those will be copied and you can delete them once they got uploaded.

Folders

If you upload directly into this folder, like in:

/Apps/INTERDUBS_IO/example.mov

then INTERDUBS will put it into the folder UPLOADED_VIA_DROPBOX. So the example file would be in

/UPLOADED_VIA_DROPBOX/example.mov

Very much like with the Ftp#FTP_Gateway you can create folders that will then be used in INTERDUBS as well. Should a folder not yet exist then it will be created.

If you already have a project like

/MyInterdubsProject

in INTERDUBS' folder section and would like to upload into that folder then you would need to create the folder:

/Apps/INTERDUBS_IO/MyInterdubsProject

and upload your files into that folder. Once the application releases we will have a feature that allows the creation of corresponding folders in your Dropbox. Very much like in the gateway FTP.

Once an upload is done into the Dropbox INTERDUBS will automatically insert the file into the INTERDUBS system. A process that can take a little bit of time. If you see your file listed in the transfer log then our system has a complete copy and you can move it out of your Dropbox again. When you remove a file from your Dropbox then it will not affect your copy of the file in INTERDUBS.

Status

After you connected your Dropbox account to your INTERDUBS acdmin account the INTERDUBS Dropbox screen will list your Dropbox account details as well as the 50 most recent uploads. Newest on top.

Using your Dropbox with mulitple INTERDUBS segments

Your Dropbox account can be connected to mulitple segments in INTERDUBS.

Only one segment can be the active destination for uploads though.

If you already have a connection and creation a new one in another segment, then the last one created will be activated automatically.

The INTERDUBS Dropbox page will indicate this on all deactivated segments. If you activate one of these segments then the current one will be activated.

This is a limitation for YOUR Dropbox account. Many Dropbox accounts can be connected to an INTERDUBS segment.
