Disable download
You can disable the clients ability to download content from INTERDUBS in various ways.
Contents |
Folder based
When the check box previously described is applied on a folder then all files directly in this folder will be affected. Please note that sub folders will not be impacted by this.
Login based
A different approach is to disable downloads on a login basis. All files accesses by the given login will be affected.
in login listing
In the login listing you can use
prevent downloads for this login
enable downloads for this login
to control downloads on a per login basis.
via login configuration
You can disable downloads for a login by following these steps:
Go to
logins
find the login you want to change (with the filter for instance)
click on the
edit login
icon in front of the login.
On the next screen you see below you some settings. One of them is the disable download option.
It usually comes from the default.
Click on 
to instruct INTERDUBS to use a login specific setting.
Then you can check that box and all quicktimes will change to kiosk mode and the download links will no longer get displayed.
File based
When you select files in a listing via the check box in the front of the listing two functions allow you to control download-ability on a per file basis:
For files that have the disable download flag set will also appear in the listing itself. Look on the right side, next to the delete button. Clicking the icon will remove the download disable flag.
disable downloads for your entire segment
If you enable the
disable downloads
setting in utilities -> configuration then nothing can be downloaded, unless a look or login overrides this setting.
download disable logic
Since downloads can also disabled with different means (see below) it is worth pointing out how these settings work in conjunction with each other: Any way of disabling the download will have the desired effect. Other settings can not make download enabled again. In other words: downloads are disable if one or another setting for it is set.
side effects
Preventing downloads on a login basis will also remove the subscribe with iTunes link.
Playback in the page directly will be exchanged for the play on a page mode, since the URL is directly visible in the former way.
For XML feeds the folder download disable will affect all files below it recursively.
RTSP stream
RTSP streams are no longer active in INTERDUBS. The feature saw only very little use. Please get in touch if you like to see it back.
INTERDUBS can convert a clip to a streaming format so that nothing gets cached on the clients computer. See streaming for details and limitations.
