Client page forward

From Wikanual

Jump to: navigation, search

INTERDUBS can forward a visitor to a different page if you set this up.

In order to set up a forward you go to

 edit login

and enable the setting for

 use note as forward

and then enter the full URL as content in the note.

An an example would be:

http://www.google.com

If your client would visit the link you sent her earlierm she would be forwarded to google in this case.

While this example would never make any sense you can use the forward feature in a couple of situations

You can use any valid link as the forward. If you do not start the link with http:, https:, mailto: etc then the system will use what you entered as a relative link.

Display and precedence

Forwarding logins will be displayed with a green background color.

Forwarding will be handled before expiration is checked. A link that is otherwise expired still can forward to a different page.

link with outdated content

Instead of expiring or deleting a link that you have sent you can simply set a forward. A forward will work no matter if a login still points to a valid folder or not. All you need is a working login.

You can either forward to a new login or to a page with information about where the content is now available.

change of data centers

If you migrate your segment to a different INTERDUBS data center you can use the client page forward to have your clients look at the up to date content.
