Devon Dickson Director
Born in Los Angeles into a celebrated film family, Devon Dickson has lived in London for all of his adult life. His grandfather was Head Costumer at Warner Brothers through the golden era of Hollywood (1930s-1960s) where his credits included 'Casablanca' and 'The Maltese Falcon,', while his father was an influential special effects cinematographer, whose credits include '2001: A Space Odyssey,' 'Close Encounters' and 'Blade Runner.'
This exposure to the art of cinematography and filmic storytelling has visibly shaped his work and the results are visually beautiful. He's created commercials with powerful narratives and natural, affective performances from actors and non-actors.
Devon’s work for hair and beauty combines a balance of storytelling and aesthetic allure, capturing images that behind the scenes are complex and clever but which result in sumptuous imagery seamlessly blended into a persuasive storyline. He has the ability to create hair shots bursting with movement and radiance. Devon treats his hair and beauty work with a perfectionism and panache. His vivid understanding of brands, techniques and style has resulted in a loyal following.
Devon has been directing commercials since 1995 and there is no doubt that he continues to revolutionise the way in which babies and toddlers are being photographed. Devon has a distinctive approach to working with babies that captures unique, touching performances and remarkable expressions never seen before, convincing performances from the hardest subjects in the industry. Devon’s enchanting commercials have connected with parents and have raised the standard of the genre.
