I've been in the serious trenches with Dana Christiaansen and watched his work from many angles over the last 18 years. Starting as a PA to 2nd AD and on up the production line to production manager, I have been there helping him execute something new and challenging every time. He loves challenges and faces them gracefully. He is an impressive and powerful presence when he wields his camera. For some people he may be a little intimidating at first just due to his stature and job title, but soon enough they are coming to me and telling me "Dana is the nicest guy I've ever worked with" and it's not an exaggeration when I say that people say this to me all of the time. He really makes people feel like they are part of his team and that means a lot at the end of a long and hard run.
I've worked FOR him for 18 years and I have nothing bad to say about him... That says a lot in itself;) As for his photography, I think that speaks for itself and stands the test of time.

"Dana is inventive in building his own camera rigs, and is open to any ideas when it comes to shooting. He provides a fun atmosphere on set, which is worth it's weight in gold. He works super fast and you walk away with more possibilities during the editing process. There's lots of 'happy accidents' that spice up the footage.

There's a fine line between innovative and insane. Let's say you're shooting trucks at speed with a camera mounted on a snowmobile. If you get the shot and stay under budget -- you're innovative.
